North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association is proud to offer a FORTIFIED Roof endorsement to policyholders in select territories. After a covered loss, eligible policyholders may elect to upgrade their roof to a FORTIFIED Roof and receive up to $5,000, subject to policy terms and conditions. Beyond the security that a FORTIFIED Roof™ provides against future loss, an IBHS FORTIFIED Roof™ designation certificate may qualify the policyholder for credits that reduce the cost of insuring your property.

Based on extensive field and lab research of structural damage caused by high winds, the FORTIFIED Roof construction standard was developed to strengthen homes against severe weather. The series of upgrades required by the standard have helped roofs perform better in both the hurricanes IBHS replicates in their state-of-the-art lab and in real-world events, including Hurricanes Dorian, Michael, Sally and Ida.
